Singapore Day 2019 is coming to Shanghai’s Century Park next month! Whether you’re a concert fan, a selfie king/queen, or simply a Singaporean craving a real taste of home, there’ll definitely be something for you at the BIGGEST overseas Singaporean reunion, on 13 April. Here are some highlights!

Ready, set – game on!

Remember how to play ‘five stones’?
Try this and other traditional games at Zone 1! (Image from here)

Bring your competitive spirit with you to Singapore Day – all in the name of fun, of course! If you and your family are ‘game’ for a trip down memory lane, start off at Zone 1: Pride and Belonging and try your hands (or feet) at some traditional games like five stones and chapteh.

Over at Zone 2: Confidence and Hope, learn more about the SG Unite Card Game, which is given out to Primary 6 students back home, to “learn about concepts like security and the importance of social cohesion”. You can also sweat it out at the GameON! NILA x SG Day 2019 fitness stations for a chance to win attractive prizes (like Shanghai Disneyland passes), or try wheelchair basketball (called ‘Wheeler’s Hoop’) in Zone 3: Care and Commitment – an inclusive activity that will be featured at Singapore Day for the first time.

Hands-on activities for all ages

Selected pin designs from Pin It With Pride in Zone 1: Pride and Belonging

If craft activities are more of your thing, head to the ‘Pin It With Pride’ section in Zone 1 and make your very own badge featuring Singapore icons; or the MINDEF craftwork activity at Zone 2. Indeed, there’s nothing like bringing home a self-made keepsake from your Singapore Day out!

Your little ones can also learn more about choosing healthier food options in ‘Plate It Right’, which lets them create their own healthy plate with miniature food toys.

Be sure to strike your best pose with your family or friends, because there are photo opportunities galore at Singapore Day! Dress your little ones up in ethnic costumes, or join in on a fun ‘trick eye’ exhibit over at the MINDEF booth. Miss our heritage playgrounds? Check out some iconic displays in our holding area!

Do your part for good

Shop for these Singapore themed items, available in Zone 3: Care and Commitment

Do your part for charity, just by being at Singapore Day! Check out our Charity Retail area in Zone 3 and ‘Shop For Good’, as part of the proceeds from the sales from local brands like Naiise, The Golden Duck Co. and MUSEUM LABEL will go towards the President’s Challenge. For The Art Faculty – a platform that “celebrates the abilities of people with autism and related challenges” by “promot[ing] and showcas[ing] their special talents” - the proceeds will go to the artists as royalties.

Head over to read ‘Stories of Good’ – fellow Singaporeans who have gone the extra mile to do their part, be it back home or overseas – and be inspired by how our overseas Singaporeans contribute to the community! You can also sign up to volunteer for a good cause, or pledge your support for SG Cares with a heart-shaped thumbprint.

You can also pledge your support for the ongoing President’s Challenge 2019 charity fundraising campaign, headed by the Singapore Chamber and Commerce and Industry in China (SingCham). All contributions will go towards two of the Empowering for Life Fund’s non-profit Voluntary Welfare Organisations: Centre for Seniors and Daughters of Tomorrow. Read more on their give.asia campaign page.

Feeling homesick? These are for you!

Send a Postcard to Singapore!

There’s lots of ways that you can curb your homesick soul at Singapore Day! For one, if you’re thinking about a family member or friends back home, colour in a postcard, pen a message and drop it into one of the letter boxes available on site. (Note: Valid for Singapore addresses only)

What’s an event for Singaporeans without enjoying good food? At Singapore Day, you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice with the authentic hawker fare coming your way – so much food, not enough time to queue for all of them!
